New! EOS 400D Digital Rebel XTi

Canon has just announced a new 10.1 megapixel camera body called the Digital Rebel XTi (EOS 400D). Here’s the official Canon UK site for the new camera and also an overview from Imaging Resource. The most interesting new feature of this camera it seems, and a first for Canon, is the inclusion of new dust reduction technologies to reduce the accumulation of sensor dust. Price is estimated at $799US.

EOS 5D Named “Professional Camera of the Year” by EISA

The Canon EOS 5D just received the prestigious distinction of being named the European Professional Camera of the Year by the EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association).

Zeiss 85mm f1.4 vs Canon 85mm f1.2

16:9 has an excellent review and sample photos taken with the new Zeiss ZF 85mm f1.4 lens, comparing it to the Canon 85mm f1.2 L. The ZF lens has a Nikon mount, but can be used with Canon bodies via an adapter.

Sandisk has just announced in a press release, the introduction of the new SanDisk Extreme® IV line of CompactFlash® digital film cards and card readers for professional photographers. The line is targeted at photographers who require the highest possible performance and the largest capacities for their medium format and high-end digital single lens reflex (SLR) cameras. The SanDisk Extreme IV cards are available in capacities of up to 8-gigabytes (GB) and deliver minimum read and write speeds of 40 megabytes per second (MB/sec.) making these the fastest flash memory cards in the world.
